Hello all

I am considering buying a laptop that will be used for, amoung other things, running navigation software on my sailboat. Given that I enjoy heavy weather more than light weather I would want to purchase a laptop that can handle alot of physical abuse. Top end performance is secondary to being able to 'take a beating' Can any one make any sugestions or point me to a resource on the net that give me some advice on this?

Thanks

Try the Itronix 6250 or 6250Pro...along with the Panasonic Toughbook, they're available on ebay and I gave less than 50 bucks for my 6250 P133/32Mb/1.6Gb. Modems are internal or pcmcia.

The greyscale (monochrome) screens are easy to see in full sunlight; the color displays are less readable.

Note: These machines are tough but do not come with a floppy or cd...you'll need external drives.

If they look as if they'll do the job for you, I can provide more details.
