We are on a tight budget, and we need new IP phones to work with CS1K.
I need to know with J129 can you configured to be used on CS1K systems.

Or is there any other alternative IP Phones we can set up with our PBX over LAN (VLAN)?

Thanks

Well if you are talking standard IP phones you will have to use Nortel phones as they use a proprietary Unistem protocol for their VOIP phones. If you are talking about SIP phones you would need to have SIP Line server installed on your signaling server and SIP licenses to support them. IF they are Nortel phones upgraded via firmware you would need a standard SIP license. If they are 3rd party SIP phones you would need a third party SIP license to install them hope this helps.

The J129's are SIP phones. As tbonz25 mentioned, you would need SIP licenses for them (in this case I'm guessing the J129 would be considered third party even though they are Avaya) and SIP configured properly on your signaling server. These are not going to integrate terribly tightly with the CS1k.

The easier and "proper" method would be to use 1100e series IP phones (or i2000 series on older CS1k's). These are also licensed, and you may not have licenses for them if you've been using "traditional" phones (or digital/analog on older CS1k releases). Do an slt in LD 22 to see what you are licensed for.

If you do not have these licenses, someone else will have to chime in. Now that the CS1k is end of sale, can you still purchase new keycodes?

We do have licenses, but now our IP1120 & 1140 phone sets are getting failed, and the vendor is providing very high prices for these sets. So I need an alternative IP phones to work with our CS1K.
