I know this may look like a simple question, but how can I tell which catalog is being used within an Impromptu query ?
I am trying to tidy up our system and some of the queries I am not familiar with.
Very simple but messy solution, but if you drag and drop the imr file from windows explorer into and open notepad window, half of the file is encrypoted but half way down there is readable text which you can see references the imr name along with the catalog name.
Thanks Adam, will I also we able to see the directory the catalog sits in ? Currently we appear to have multiple catalogs of the same name on our network!!
A not so messy solution is to open the report in Impromptu and select Insert from the menu and choose more Objects, then select catalog file name from the dialog. Place this in the report header or footer and leave it dynamically sized. This puts the catalog file name with path into the report. You can also do this with the report file name, which can be a godsend when a user comes to you and says "I need THIS report", but doesn't know what the report file name is.
I guess the i-Assistant tool from i-sols will help you. I just got the eval copy and did not go through the concepts completely. But I guess this feature is available ...
Our solution to this problem was making sure the report template included to catalog description, this way, even a catalog change to the report will be reflected in the output.
