I did my first MCP exam 70-294 and passed some months ago.

Now my welcome pack from MS has turned up and all there was in it was a cert saying the I have "completed the requirements to be recognized as a Microsoft Certified Professional" - with Recognised spelt incorrectly too!

A pin, and a wee credit card.

Where's my Congrats on passing 70-294 cert that I can hang proudly on the wall? When I pass the 70-284 exam does this mean I get nothing? Is this normal or did they forget to pack something?

Bit disappointed for £100 per exam!

OK, rant over!

Iain

When I passed my first MCP exam it just said that, and I didn't get anything else from Microsoft until I got my MCSA.

If you want proof of specific passes for job applications or a performance review, I'd login to the MCP website and print a certified copy of your transcript which shows the exams you passed and the date you passed them.

You don't get a cert for each exam you pass.

jrbarnett,

While a copy of a transcript is nice, I prefer to just include the Microsoft Transcript Sharing ID and Access Code.

When I am hiring and a person lists a cert, I insist on then providing the sharing id and access code.

Bummer, I was hoping for a nice cert to hang on my wall each time I passed an exam :(
I was hoping that they'd just forgot to put it in the welcome pack :"(

But thanks for the tip about popping the sharing ID and access code on my cv, hadn't thought of that.

Cheers,
Iain

For what it's worth I've always felt MS let themselves down a bit on certificates. They look very cheap and tacky. Not as nice as the Comptia certificates that look like something of value. Of course certs do not maketh the man but it would only cost MS an extra dollar or so to make the certificate look worth hanging on a wall.

My thought exactly. My Citrix certs are very pretty and look rather nice!

I got a ceritificate from an official MS training facility and the cert of attendance from that was rather smashing!

Iain

LOL! Thats a good point.
My certificate of attendence for a MACD boot camp looks better than the MS certificate as well.

I also think MS should include a link on the transcript page for each exam passed to describe the exam.
That way an potential employeer can understand better the skills that were measured.

Come to that, it was also be nice to se those MS logos
that go with the certs displayed on the transcript page ( MCP, MCAD, MCDBA etc ) when they have been earned.
