I'm the new IT guy for my company and know pretty much nothing about phone systems. I usually have someone else take care of this kind of thing, but I've had them out twice this week, and it's an urgent problem that they won't be able to get to today. While this is very basic, I would appreciate your help.

A user came back after being out for a few days to find her phone dead. In the wiring closet I discovered there are no wires going to her jack, but the extension is wired up to the phone somewhere in the building (I would get a fast busy signal otherwise). How do I find her extension on my punchdown block? As far as I can tell the blocks are labeled by port. Again, I appreciate any assistance you can give me!

See if you can do a Voice call Feature 66 to the working set and ask somebody where it is located. Then go to the phone do a feature * zero press the I/C button it should tell you the extention number and the port it is connected to. Then find the port and swing the crossconnect wire to the dead jack.

That didn't quite do the trick (the phone was in obscure conference room), but by a blind stroke of luck someone told me to check in the exact right location. Thanks!
