Hi IBM'ers,

I have 2 Netfinity 5000 servers Type 8659-31Y that have single processors. They're overworked.

Want to add a second processor to each one.

I did'nt find anything on IBM's site.

These are "old"... purchased in 1999.

Can anyone recommend where to look for processors that are compatible with a Netfinity 5000 8659-31Y ?

Thanks, John

Ken - I did try ebay, but didnt find any processors that would be compatible.

I have purchased a used Netfinity 5000 8659-31Y (for $210) from itxchange.com)- I'll remove the processor from it and see if I can add it to 1 of my single-processor servers.

Hope it works out. Thanks for replying. John

Have you already tried this?

You can find the P/N information of your CPU on :

Upgrade information is also available.

You should ask a IBM Reseller for the part number you need.
But probably these options are obsolete/withdrawn from marketing, so another way to get your parts is via the spare parts/repair channel of IBM.
Normally your IBM reseller should be able to help you.

Kind regards,
Peter

Tks Ken,

I just bought an entire used Netfinity - same model. Ill remove the processor and add it to my other server.

bought it at itxchange.com for $210 + shipping.
