Hi Everyone,
I just downloaded FoxyPreview, i am running VFP9 SP2, would like to convert a frx file to RTF or as Ms WORD DOCUMENT, according to what i found
i just need to have this line

DO FOXYPREVIEWER.APP
report form myreport preview

Ok, the thing is where should be the FOXYPREVIEWER.APP installed ? in the folder where my application resides or it should be installed and be integraded as part of the VFP9 ?

I am confuse here, can anyone explain please
I just working on a little application that will run a report, i want that frx file to be converted as a word doc file w/o user interface, so how or where the FOXYPREVIEWER.APP should be installed please ?
Thanks in advance

The short answer is that it should be installed where your application can find it, which means either in the default directory, or any directory on your search path (which you establish with SET PATH).

But my preference would be to install it in the same directory as your application. That not only ensures that the app will find it, but it helps keep everything together.

It should not be installed in your VFP directory, for the simple reason that, if you distribute you applcation as an EXE file, the end user won't have a VFP directory.

Thanks a lot Mike, that was what i thou but i also thou that if it is integrated in VFP it could be called as a tool and always available while working in the VFP enviroment and after compiling a program as an exe, it could be included in the project file.
By the way, another question
If i want to open the frx file in Ms Word 2010 , should i save this file as RTF only, or there is any other better format for it ?
Thanks for the clarification
Regards

VFP has no linker, neither for DLLs, nor for APPs. You can install foxypreviewer.app into home(), but then the same applies, as for report apps: You have to copy them into your application folder anyway. What's true for Reportpreview.app, Reportoutput.app and reportbuilder.app: They also don't integrate into an exe automatically, they remain external files.

In regard of printing doc, rtf etc without visual interface, ask the foxypreviewer developers or documentation.

Bye, Olaf.

RTF should work fine. It is supported by all versions of Word, and it allows you to use the majority of Word features. I don't know what other suitable formats Foxy supports. If you are in doubt, try experimenting with different formats, or - as Olaf suggested - check the documentation.

Thanks Mike, thanks Olaf, i got it with either Ms word and Excel, in other words, i use FoxiP.APP and i can save my frx file as RTF, PDF and xls, and even edit it in those applications

Hi,
I have made a habit to install FoxyPreviewer and the ness. files in a seperate directory which I include in my path. FoxyPreviewer is a socalled open source project and has many updates upto daily. These updates are mostly bug-fixes and not enhancements so trival to have the latest version installed.
