Hi,

We have a Hub site s8700 in Americas and a remote site connected to hub site in asia s8500 which is LSP.

When remote site takes over control in lsp mode the time it is showing is off 12 hours. why it is showing 12 hrs off..any clue?

where phones should go to get time from in LSP mode?

set the time on the Asia S8500 LSP to be THE SAME as your local S8700 in the US

In the "change locations" screen, you can put the offset for the local time in Asia.

When the system goes into LSP/Survivable mode, the LSP will ahve the same time as the main system, and it will apply the same time offset that shows up in the "change locations" screen, and the time on your phones will stay accurate/correct.

thanks Mitch,

S8700 time is different from Asia 8500.

ex: US s8700 shows 14:00 hrs

asia s8500 shows 02:00 hrs

but i checked "change locations" offset for the local time in Asia is already there.

any clue...

yes, set the time on the Asian S8500 to the SAME EXACT time as the US S87200. Your problem will go away.

HI Mitch,

S8720 is in new york and it is set for america/new york Time. S8500 is in Kualalumpur and it is set for Asia/Kualalumpur.

Shall i set S8500 time same as america/new york time?

also Asia time is in 24 hr format..

thanks.

The rule for a multilocation switch, where you want the time to be accurate regardless if the phones are registered to the main site (normal operation), or you have a WAN/LAN outage, and the phones register to a local LSP or ESS server, is, you set the time on ALL LSP AND ESS Servers to be in the SAME TIMEZONE as the MAIN switch.

It's just that simple.

In this way, the "location" rules are applied to whatever is running the translations at the moment, the same way. So if a phone is registered to the MAIN switch, the proper time offset is calculated and applied to the phone time. This same thing happens when the phone is registered to an LSP or ESS server, the saem "location" rule is applied, so the LSP or ESS server MUST be setup to have the same time/date as the MAIN system.

It all makes sense if you think about it. All of your Servers should have the same time/date as the MAIN switch, it's just that simple.
