drwxr-xr-x 12 root bin 312 Dec 14 11:43 ..

Where is the mail spool ???

We use sendmail.

Thanks !

But in this folder ther is the outgoing mail, i want to see the arrived mail and that users can read by doing:
#mail

in linux it is /var/spool/mail
in solaris this directory is empty

Do you have aliases defined for the users which may be sending it elsewhere? (/etc/aliases)

Or there could be .forward files in the users' home directories which forward it on elsewhere. IBM Certified Specialist - MQSeries

I believe that sendmail uses the mail box held in the MAIL variable - therefore try

#echo $MAIL

you should get a default mailbox returned (/var/mail/username)
