Hello,

I have installed a second hard drive on Windows 2000 Professional- it installed fine, it is recognised in the bios, but when I go to 'my computer' only the first drive is there.

Where is the second drive?

Cheers

James

Start->settings->controlPanel->administrativeTools->computerManagement->diskManagement
Your new drive should be listed here, just right click on the bar and select format.

Also - if the drive was NOT brand-new..it may have remnants of an active OS on it, and therefore Win2K is hiding the partition. Unlikely, but a possibility. pbxman

is the drive a maxtor?

I had a maxtor driver that wouldn't show the correct partions. I later learned that I had the master/slave jumpers set wrong on the drive. I corrected the problem and have no issues now.
