where do I see the model?

Hi,

I want to check out what is the model for my UNIX machine, which is located in another distance location!

What command or file that I am able to look at to know the model of the box? or it is impossible?

may give you all the detail you need

I forget to let you know that I already use "uname -a", but that won't display the "physical" model name ?! I'm not sure what is that call! but I compare with another box, eg: the name is moulded on the cover of the box is 450E, and using "uname" will display only "SunOS wradin1 5.8 Generic_108528-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-80", which is nothing to show such thing of "450E", and this is the name that I want to know, if you know.

Try the prtdiag command.

run /usr/platform/`uanme -i`/sbin/prtdiag | more

The uname -i is in backtiks.

This should have more info than you need, but the first line will say what the model is.

I think your command shows the information:
"Sun Microsystems sun4u Sun Enterprise 420R (4 X UltraSPARC-II 450MHz)"

However, I can not use the prtdiag command (error: not found).
