Hi,

I posted a message in these forums about sub interfacing a pix interface... Someone told me I was needing Pix 6.3 OS. I currently have 6.2.

I was wandering where can I download the bin from ? Is it free upgrade or ?

I bought that router used so I'm not sure if I need to pay or not.

Thanks a lot

It is not a free upgrade. A SmartNet contract is typically required to access the software downloads.

I have read in this forum that 6.3 IOS for pix have some bug is it true?

Well, yes. but EVERY version of the PIX OS has SOME bugs. Nothing against the good folks at Cisco, but bug-free software from anyone simply doesn't exist.

That said, I have 6.3 in production on a few of our firewalls, and we haven't had any issues.

I have heard that th ebug is in the VPN option , and this what i want to do VPN.

is here some body more informed ?

There is one bug I have seen doing VPNs in 6.3(1), but according to Cisco, it was there in 6.2 as well. When adding on to a crypto map, the outside int of the firewall crashes. The solution is to take the crypto map off the interface (somewhat disruptive), then reapply it after making the changes.

Other than that, our VPNs run fine in 6.3, though all of them are site-to-site.

I am running 6.3(1) with site-to-site as well as VPN Client 4.01. The only issue I am aware of is with the vpn client. A cisco tech told me to be and sure to use a different subnet for my client ip pool to avoid a known routing issue between the client and pix. Once I changed that mine has worked flawlessly.

send me your email address and i will send you pdm 3.01 and ios 6.3.3
my email address i ejohnson7@cox.net

6.3.3, gee I didn't even know they had released that yet. :)

You need an 515 and unrestricted license minimum to do the 802.1q subinterfaces..
