In previous versions windows had a Scan Disk but in windows 2000 I do not see it could some one please tell me if this future is available in windows 2000 and where to find it (I wan to use it for a broken 3 ½ in floppy)
Thank you

Sorry bud, no scandisk in 2000. The disk management is inbuilt. U will have to use a 3rd party program.

I don't know about Win2K Professional but in Win2K Server, if you go to Programs | Administrative Tools | Computer Management. Select a drive and go into properties, it is now called Error Checking.

Aloha,

James

They are both correct. Win2K Server does not use Scan Disk. There is a crude version called error checking where FoxPacific said it was. If you are haveing file problems and you do the error checking and still have problems you can do an SFC. Go to START>RUN and type: sfc /scanonce
then hit enter and reboot. You will need the Server CD to use this tool. It verifies the System files are ok. Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.
