Hi, I recently posted this question and so far I don't have a solution, please I need to retrieve my email, HELP, HELP.

I recently had problems with my W2000 and had to reinstall it in a different directory. Now my emails, inbox/outbox, can't be accessed nor my contacts.

I know that my emails and contacts are in the hard drive because they were not erased but I just don't know how to retrieve them. Where are they?

First and only reply: Because you posted this in the MS Office forum, I'll assume that you have Outlook. Search your hard drive for *.pst (be sure to include system and hidden files).

My response: Yes, I have Outlook 2000. I searched for *.pst files and could only find three which were not my emails. Also I understand that pst files are just backup files and I did not back them up, just re-installed W2000.

Thx

Hello Tomahawk,

Sorry that I can't help you. Have you tried posting your question on the following 2 forums? They tend to be more developer oriented. Maybe someone there can help you.

VBA Visual Basic for Applications (Microsoft) Forum Forum707

Visual Basic(Microsoft): Version 5 & 6 Forum forum222

Good Luck!

The default location for your email database is:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Your User Name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

and the default name is "outlook.pst"

try searching your drive for any .PST files again. If you find any use the "File|Open PST files" menu item to see if any contain your email messages.

IF you can't find any .PST files try looking for any file named "outlook"

Good Luck
