The only way I've found to connect to Windows network printers from my Mac running Tiger is to use:

smb://username.password@domain/server/printer

This forces me to type my domain password in clear text, for that one time I create the printer. Two questions: 1 - where is this password stored? 2 - is there another way to connect to these printers (I connect to them with the "Windows Printer via SAMBA" option)?

This is using the default version of Samba with MacOSX.

Thanks!

It's been a couple of years since I've had to do this, but, IIRC, look in

/etc/cups/printers.conf

I'm afraid the passwords are stored in plain text.

That was correct! Password in plain text, but in a protected file. Thanks!
