Supposedly we have to install Visual Studio in order to setup projects for SSIS but is there a free client download for this if we already own sql server 2005? All I want to do is setup a scheduled integration with SQL, so we shouldn't have to buy VS?

The SQL Server installation media allows you to install Business Intelligence Development Studio, which comes with SSIS and SSRS designers, but without any .Net development languages like VB/C#/C++. So you do not need to buy anything. Just install it from the SQL DVD.

Perfect I guess listing it as "Visual Studio 2005" when that's what it installs would be silly! Thx.
