Anyone know when Avaya are planning to have the IP Office apps supported on Windows 7?
Is there any official word on this? I've checked the Avaya website but can't seem to find anything although I must admit I didn't look that hard because someone on here is bound to know.

Thanks

I have found most if not all apps work fine under win 7.

if you have issues, try using the free windows xp mode from MS (PC needs to support hardware accelerated virtualisation - normally set in teh system BIOS)

This will run your apps in a virtualised XP machine, but you will see just the app running and not the whole virtal PC desktop.

Avaya states that they try to support a new OS within 6 months after the release

but we all know that they had a hell of a time to get Vista working, so expect them to support it in 2012 right after the world ends :)

I think that I will be Q1 or Q2 because it looks like Vista
There is a bigger difference between XP and Vista then Vista and 7
But you never know :)

let's hope that Win7 is closer to XP (and works) rather then being close to Vista and being a pain in the ar$e
I have 2 VM Pro systems on Vista one on Win7 (emergency buy of a PC 2 weeks ago) and all others run on XP Pro and until I cna't get any XP PC's any more they will be on XP.
The enemy you know is better then the unknown and as soon as Win7 gets the OK I will use Win7.

think of Vista as the Windows ME of the new Windows OSes.

I think you will find the jump from Vista to 7 isnt as far as it is for WXP to Vista.

Bottom line.
Vista = bad
Win 7 = good.

You can still buy XP machines from HP.
If you want them, ask for "vista business" downgraded to XP.

We are installing HP only went away from Dell when they didn't give us XP any more (except the emergency PC we had to buy form the local Computer store that runs on Win7 without any problems btw)
I like Win7 too but don't want to have customers running on it if there is no real need for it as I like to be supported in case I need Avaya and not have to then reinstall everything on a new PC and then if it still doesn't work be really angry at them for having me do that. :-(

You can get Win7 with the XP downgrade from Dell. I have purchased all my servers from Dell. When it was Vista I downgraded to XP and now there is Win7 I downgrade to XP. They have always had the downgrade option you just have to look for it. I don't think they want to advertise this OS sucks down grade to XP it works.

I have to tell our purchaser then to have a closer look, I liked the Dells better.

thanks Gregl45 I will pass that on and hopefully get my Dells back. Maybe I have to break a few of the HP's coming in until purchasing gets annoyed with the warranty replacements :)

If you look at the release notes for the 5.0 maint release,, it has a nice surprise.

Win7 is supported - for certain applications

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

I am about to start a new thread for the new release Matt, I can't upgrade the systems it seems, but Win7 must have been the fastest OS ever to get the Avaya approval
