When trying to start a 9i database, I get the error ORA-01031 Insufficient Privileges. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this one?

I am logged in: sys as sysdba
I have had no problems until today. It was working fine yesterday.

thx
Chris.

Did you change your init.ora?

That will happen if you set LOCK_SGA but your system
isn't set up to support it.

You can only lock shared memory areas as root, so oracle has to run as the root user, which is a bad thing. .

Init.ora has not been changed. I am getting ORA-27101 shared memory realm does not exist. when tracing Enterprise Manager Client.

is your database listed in /var/opt/oracle/oratab ?

Also verify that the memory parameters in /etc/system
haven't been changed. The memory parameters might be
somewhere else depending on what OS you are running.

I am running Win2K. I fixed the problem though...uninstall, reinstall.

Thx.
