Is there a setting to overwrite new tapes? Any help would be appreciated. [sig][/sig]

After you change tapes you need to run an Inventory of the device so BE knows about the media change. I would also run an ERASE on the new media as well. Itll then be considered "Scratch" media by BE and will show up in blue in the MEDIA tab. BE looks for SCRATCH tapes first to write to on overwrite jobs. After you write to the tape it will be in the MEDIA SET 1 media set in the MEDIA tab. Go to the Properties of the MEDIA SET 1 to set how long you want BE to keep the data on the tape and how long you want to be able to append new data to the tape. [sig][/sig]

Does this mean that you have to erase every tape before you use it? That makes no sense. You should be able to insert a tape and have it wrote to if the overwrite feature is on.
