when i try to run fdisk it says no fixed disks present

what does this mean when i try to run fdisk it says no fixed disks present .. what do I do .. i cant go into windows at all
 
Go into BIOS on bootup and see if there is a drive type selected in CMOS. If so, then possibly you have lost the drive. If not in CMOS then run the drive detection.
This can be a symptom of a CMOS battery dying. Ed Fair

Check to see if your HDD is in the correct spot on your IDE . It should be in the first possistion in the ribbon at the end. if it is set up to be the master drive.

As Always... If I cannot frie it it cannot be done...LOL...
 
the cable may be plugged in the wrong way or the jumper may be set wrong i see both those senarios all the time
