When Apache starts in Windows 98 I see only a blank DOS window.

Can this be correct?
The server is working. Web pages placed in htdocs work.
When I use Start->Apache Http Server 2.047->Control Apache Server->Start Apache In Console I get a DOS box and a blinking underscore. Nothing else. Typing has no response. Control^C will exit the server.

What should I see?

Note: This is my first day of using apache so I am a green novice. My purpose is to learn how to build commercial web pages.
