What is the recommended running CPU temperature for a AMD Athlon 1.4ghz?

Hey guys.. I need some help. Here's a list of my hardware:

ASUS A7V (KT133) 1008 Beta BIOS
Athlon T-bird 1.0Ghz (no o/c)
Maxtor 7200rpm ATA100
ELSA GeForce GTS 32mg (no o/c)
256mg Kingston PC-133 SDRAM

My cpu is retail so it came with its own heatsink/fan. The Vcore is set at 1.75V in CMOS but its actually 1.79. My problem is that my IDLE temps are around 50deg C! This is way too hot for a 1.0Ghz T-bird! Here's the worst part: My case has TWO 120mm fans (intake, top blowhole) and TWO 90mm fans (above AGP card, above PS). My motherboard's temp is around 31deg C.. which is also high. Can some of you help me? What should I do to lower my temps? My room is around 21-23deg C. Thanks for any replies!

Rob

Can't quite get wot U R saying about case fans?? (two 120mm intake top??? and two 90mm above AGP and above power supply)
Your top 120mm should be exhaust, blowing OUT the case (hot air rises so this/these top holes should blow out of the case)and the two 90's should suck IN, with probably an 80 or 90mm also sucking IN bottom front, that would be something around even for CFM IN/OUT roughly.Three 90's against two 120's. Still seems a bit of overkill on the amout of fans, Two 90's in and one 120 out should be plenty! for a 1 gig unclocked. Front bottom and middle rear sucking IN for the 90's and top 120mm blowing OUT! plus PSU out.The fact that your board temperature is as much as 10 degrees higher than ambient says that there is an airflow problem in your case, you should get nearer 5c differance with good airflow and a corresponding drop in CPU temp as well. Tidy wiring as well.
I have built several DDR 1 gigs recently on differant boards and after sorting extra case fans they usually idle around 35c and max in the LOW 40's with about the same ambient temps as U.

Paparazi,

Thanks for the reply. I included a diagram of my system to make it clear on what my setup is. I agree that air-flow dynamics is important. Take a look at my setup and let me know what you would do to make it more efficient. Thanks!

Thanks again.

Oh, you'll have to cut and paste the link for some reason. Geocities is a pain in the arse!

Sorry Rob, couldn't get the site to work even manually typing the link?? Email it to me if U can?? or post it??
Martin.

Here's my attempt.. I'm not used to this board! :)

It wont show it on my "Preview Post." Geocities is a pain in the A$$! Just right-click and go to properties.. then highlight the url and paste it.. thats the only way it works for me.

hi i've athlon 1.4 ghz - cpu 47°C / proc 50% - cpu 52°C / proc 95% - so i think its a good temper.
Other thing i install PC alert III and the computer restart like that !!! so no pc alert III for windows XP bugyyy !!!:(((
