My comms support company wants to sell me another 4 meg pcmcia card for backing up the system state...

fine.. i would rather have two and alternate them...
but they want £560 !!! ( $930 ) for 1 card...

im guessing it's a type 1 pcmcia card ? but is there anything special about it ?

No, there's no difference then a regular memory card that
you can pu almost anywhere for a fraction of the cost!

DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT! (and they will)

Here's the catch. You need inads/int level password to put
the special Avaya formatting on it.

You can format the card on your Definity with only craft access. The command that you need is 'format card-mem.'

You can get craft access to your system if you can afford a little down time. Pull your current memory card and power off your system. If you power back on without a memory card, you will get a virgin system, where all of the passwords are the factory defaults. You can use the default craft password to format your new card, then reinsert your original card and reboot.
