This is not exactly the question you asked, but the Palm Vx works like a charm with SK98. But it does so using a cradle (into which you place the Vx) which plugs into the computer's serial port. The Palm Desktop software that comes with the Vx was basically written before USB ports--thus, there is no way to connect a Vx to a USB port.
(Yes, Palm put out as software-hardware kit--called: "PalmConnect USB Kit"--where the software tells the Palm Desktop about USB ports and the hardware connects to the serial cable (from the cradle) and changes it to a USB connection cable. I bought this kit, but could never get it to work properly.)
When you get later models of the Palm, which come with later models of Palm Desktop software, the smooth syncing that came with the Vx is no longer the case. If you review the recent postings, you will get a quick idea of what some of the problems are as well as some suggested solutions. For instance I now have a T/X model and am not able to sync it with SK98, but I keep trying.
