I use Paradox 9 interactively to store client data. I used the Query builder to successfully build a query that lists client, date of birth, paid/not paid and amount. I've figured out how to get what I need..but can't figure out what to put to the right of the green check mark to get that field to SUM...and I can't find anything in the help screens to explain what drops down when you right click on one of those green check marks. Can anyone help me here?

If you leave out the green check mark then type in "calc sum" in the blank box (without the Quotes) in the field you want to SUM, you will get the the results you want. I hope this makes sense.

I forgot you say you can look this up under QBE in the help.

We should also mention that the sum you get in the answer table will be aggregated by the unique combination of fields you have checked.

If, for example, you have a table with SSN, Empname, Salary as fields and you Check the SSN field and type Calc Sum in the Salary field, the answer will simply give you the total Salary for each unique SSN.

That may not be what you want.
