Okay I was browsing along and just stumbled on to what seemed to be a good deal: 2 origin 200's for cheap.

Now here's my dilemma: I don't know if what I'm going to be using them for will... well, use their full potential.

I was planning on just having them sit in a back room somewhere and hold movie files and mp3's, so they don't crowd up my main HD. Would these work?

I've used irix for about 2 months during a high school work study program, and that's it. My main concern though is whether these would do a better job than a cheap-o x86 with a bunch of IDE drives...

Buy them! Sell me the other one, if you need only one :)
Well, Origin 200 is a nice (and good looking) machine for all kind of server jobs (and it can be used as a workstation too with remote display). I've run an Origin as a database & license server for couple of years without any problems (except the high price at purchasing).

Well, he conveniently forgot to include the craylink cable, and craylink cable = $, so it looks like I will probably only be using one. You can find some pictures here ( plus a few assorted things; I think you'll be able to differentiate.

These are in BAD shape aesthetically. One is completely devoid of the blue skin (which I suppose would be okay if you had a rack) - just look at the pictures.

I guess you get what you pay far :]... But yeah if you want one, or both for that matter, LMK, funkatron AT earthlink DOT net.

(That's probably against forum regulations, but I dont think this topic is too popular anyways)
