It seems that I have screwed up the enable password... How can I log in to advanced mode, when I dont know enable password... I triend to find way using console connection but still I haven't managed to log in to advanced mode... Help me PLEASE!
Generally it involves hitting Break during boot to get the router into a ROMMON prompt then setting "confreg 0x2142". After another reboot, hit NO to the prompts to do autoconfig. You can now get into enable mode and use "configure memory"(NOT config terminal). Now you can change the enable secret. Finally issue "config-register 0x2102" command to reset the config register to reboot normally. Finally ctrl-z out of config mode and write your config.
Yeah thanks... Weird thing though is that I managed to find out the config memory ( which in my case was 0x102 ) and after I typed that confreg 0x102 and restarted, it still did't boot to configuration mode... Weird thing...
The value of the config register is dependent on the type of router you have. Some use 0x102, some use 0x2102. Check the Cisco website to get the correct value for your router. Put the wrong value into the register and your router won't know "where to go" so to speak (i.e., not into config mode)
Damned... The Cisco web site claims that the correct register is 0x102 but When it didnt work I tried all of those you mentioned.. and voilâ the 0x2142 worked.. Thanks guys
