All,

One think I would like to do is drop the server off the Empire State Building, but I guess my boss would not like that! heaeha

Well, CDONTS does not work. The page gets loaded okay, everything looks great, but no one ever gets the e-mail. If I run the code on someone else's server I get the e-mail, if I run the code on my server, I don't get the email, hence the problem is in the server.

I have a Dell, Microsoft Exchange, Windows 2K server. All ASP worked in it allright, I do not understand why CDONTS doesn't work. If anyone has any idea how to enable CDONTS please drop a message... or if you just had similar problems... or even if you do not know what the hell am I talking about still drop a message.

Meantime I will be reading the CDO help program which is really interesting.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Check to see if SMTP Services on your machine are on and running.
Sometimes this could be a problem.

Check the bad mail folder or the pending!? - I can't rememeber the proper name, sorry - folder.
I had this problem and the mail was sitting in the folder waiting to be sent out. I stopped and restarted the IIS and SMTP servies and it then seemed to work fine.

James,

You are correct! I've voted you tipmaster! But I still have a problem. How can I keep messages from going to the c:/inetpub/mailroot/pickup/ instead having them going to the correct address?

I've stopped and restarted the SMTP, but that didn't work. I am not sure where to start and stop the IIS if you could tell me where to find that and also any other way of fixing, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

James,

One thing I saw is that in the IIS the virtual smtp server is stopped. When I tried to make it start it could be turned on. I asked my boss and he told me that it can't be changed for some weird reason. The regular SMTP is running but the Default SMTP virtual server is stopped and as it seems I can't change it to run. Do you think this has anything to do with the problem I am having? If I change the default SMTP to run the e-mail will work?

Thanks for the help,

If I understand you correctly the default SMTP virtual server/service is not running. You need to have the virtual server running to get the email to be sent, or at least I believe so. Have you tried turning it on? If so does the email get sent? If so then I don't know of any other option except having it switched on. Somebody else might now a better/alternate way though.

Hi,

I am having the same problems you had in October. I waswondering if you could tell me how you solved your problem.

One other question. Does the SMTP server have to be on the same server as your asp scripts. The two servers are on the same network.

Thanks
Margarita

hello,

Start the iis-management, in the left pane right-click your site domain, choose properties, choose tab: server-extentions, in the middle there is some e-mail option, choose properties, fill in the smtp-server that you (or your company)use. then it should work. Greetings,

Roberti

Hi,

I have a very similar problem to chassid. I've tried stopping and starting the SMTP service, for example. The emails don't appear to even be reaching any of the mail folders, suggesting that they aren't being sent.

I'm using CDONT's in ASP pages, on a W2K server with MS exchange.

Any help would be appreciated!
