Greetings!

I have been searching without any success so I am posting this question: what system management options do I have available through a phone set? I rememeber seeing my support tech perform some mainteanance tasks on the PBX by going through a phone in the office but I don't know any specifics on what he was doing.

One of my co-workers asked to see if there was a way to forward his phone remotely without having to bother me or someone else in the office and I wonder if this can be done by calling the main number and then going through a little known procedure. Any help wil be greately appreciated!

Thanks!

you can set up remote call forward where users can call from home or where ever they are and forward their phone. You can also do commands from a maintenance phone but thats alot more complicated to explain

Thanks,

Buddy

At my old company, I used to use remote call forward to my cell phone, or divert it back to my voicemail. The only way I could do this was via the use of DISA on a spare DID line.

You need to check that the DISA package is available. It's usually removed these days. I think it's pkg 22. Check it in LD 22.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Thank you David and Buddy, that's exactly what I want to do. Now, since I am still a young apprentice to this field, do you know if there are any guides out there that may list the steps on how to do this?

Thanks!

Basically do this

Define DISA for external use in ld 24
LD 15 FFC_DATA: Station Control Password length
LD 57 FFC: Remote Call Forward Activate/Deactivate Codes
RCFA *74
RCFD *75
LD 10 / LD 11: SCPW (Station Control Password) on sets to use feature

to use the feature

call disa numbe rin PBX from where ever you are and you will hear dialtone

dial the ffc(*74 in my example)

dial the station password

dial the dn you want to forward and you will hear dialtone again

dial the number you want calls forwarded to including the 9 if its offnet

Thanks,

Buddy

Putting in DISA access is one of the primary ways hackers get in to your PBX and run up huge bills. If you decide this is what you want to do, make sure you make the password as strong as possible, using the telephone number as the password is not a good thing!

Thank you GHTROUT and everyone else. After reading the materials and learning more about it I queried my switch and unfortunately (or fortunately) this option is not installed and it has to be purchased. Well, there goes that idea! :p

Either way, I agree TRVLR1, caution should be exercised in implementing these options to prevent any hacks.

Until next time - which may be soon - everyone have a GREAT holiday weekend!
