That makes sense.
I just completed a backup. I went through the log and discovered the mail boxes were not backed up. The reason was "access denied". I'm using Veritas Backup Exec Version 7.3. Can you help with this.
Thanks
Don't forget to shutdown the Exchange first, the files are locked!

I am familiar with ARCserve 2000, but I believe Veritas also uses a special backup agent to backup up the Exchange "brick level" (individual mailboxes, folders and messages). Do you have that Veritas backup agent installed on Exchange 5.5? If not, and/or to get details about using the Veritas backup agent for Exchange, you might check the Tek-Tips forum "VERITAS: Backup Exec back up" under Server Rack. Using the agent, a shutdown of Exchange is not required to do "brick level" backups.
Stop all Exchange Services, System Attendant first.

Veritas version 7.3 can backup your exchange mailboxes... as long as you have the exchange agent installed. However you might want to upgrade to Backup exec version 8.6, according to conversation I have had with several people version 7.3 is not renowned for its ability to recover exchange databases.
