A while back, I remember finding a post for this but I'm not having luck locating it this morning:

I moved us away from the attendant setup and made "0" a VDN and use skill based routing for our switchboard folks.

It hit me that I will no longer have the luxury of dialing "0" from an x-ported station to see what port I'm on.

I believe there was a post where someone had written a vector with a string of announcements that you could call and basically have the system tell you what port you were on.

what is attd assigned to on the "change dialplan analysis?

you could define a special number for an attendant extension with a display and that should work with tti and psa.

There is also a "feature" called "Self Station Display Activation:", assign it a feature code in "change feature", but first you need to enable it in "change system features", on page 1 "Self Station Dsiplay Enable?", once you have it enabled and assigned a feature code, just dial the code from any extension with a display, it will show you the port you are on and the extension #.

FYI: This doesn't work for analog station, only digital.

Mitch, i tried to set this up and it come up with <ext:port ID> but it doesn't show me either. I looked in the Implementation and feature description and the Administrators guide and didn't see anything on this in either one. I do not have TTI turned on, is that it or am I missing something??

It should work without TTI; I turned ours off and still obtained the information. What type of phone sets do you have?

Odd.... When I use this on our 64xx sets, I have two lines in the display window. The first line has the actual extension and the port address (or the information in the "ROOM" field and the port address, if the COS has Client Room set to Y), and the second line has (Ext:pORT ID). Are you only coming up with one line of information?

Self Station Display Enabled
Use this field to control the use of the inspect button for digital display phones.
Self Station Display allows a user to display the primary extension associated with a digital
display telephone. There are two methods: (1) enter a feature access code (FAC), and (2) use
the inspect button. In either case, the display shows the primary extension associated with the
telephone where the FAC or normal or exit button is entered. In the case of the FAC, the
display continues until a display-altering event occurs (for instance, going on-hook or receiving
an incoming call). In the case of the inspect button, the display continues until the user presses
the normal or exit button or until a display-altering event occurs.

no clue mikeydidit, maybe you have a release that is older, and it's not supported? I think it's been around since R9.5 or R10, it's not a new feature.

Yep. Just showing the extension number. No port information. I use hospitality here, where I have to put the extension number in the room number field to show up. Think thats it?

I am on 3.1.4 Mitch so that shouldn't be the problem.

I used to TTI a temporary extension in so that I could get port information & then TTI the temp extension out - would that help you? If you're on an analog phone and it's X-ported, you can call the operator and he/she should be able to tell you the port number.
