Hi Jake,

Most Verizon end offices here in Massachusetts and throughout the Northeast have an ANAC number.

Skip's suggestion is the best, but if you have some time to kill and want to try to figure out what the active ANAC number is for a given Central Office, usually they are something along the lines of "200-4444" or "200-5555".

Both 200-4444 and 200-5555 are valid for the Central Office that services my house (Just tried both of them and I heard my phone number spoken back to me).

I know there is a reason but there is a reason why I dont use my cell phone I am often in the basement and cell phones dont work in basements where I work.

Thanks

Yup and the reason is that these numbers have been discussed and given out on boards like this to people who have no business knowing them.

One way or another these numbers are a resource in that it costs somebody to provide the service or the resource is limited. It could also be considered a security risk by some.

I make it a point to never give out this information and it should be this board's policy also. If you are in the business you will know how to get this information, if you are not, use your cell phone.

I get my numbers from the techs from the local telco. I have worked on communication systems for 13 years.

Thanks -

what Ive done in similar situations is , put the phone in the truck . call it from the lines I need to ID , get the phone and match the lines .

Just look thru some recent posts on this and related forums and you will find what you are looking for.

Exert a little effort and you can find what you need. Be more resourceful!
