Dear Friends,
I got WinNt server4.0+service pack4.0(DHCP server) with windows XP professional and home editions in network.when i tried to connect to the by dynamic alocation of ip and dns it's not connecting to server at all and throughing an error "destination host not reachable".but if i give static IP everything is fine.could anyone give some ideas for dynamic allocation of winXP clients over WinNT4. server.

thanks in advance.
reddy.

How big is the network? I've seen many problems cured by simply assigning static ip addresses. If that fixes it, why go back to dhcp?

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Hi Mattjurado,
thanks for your reply.the network is small and it is about 35 computers in network. i managed to connect by assigning static ip addresses, but i want to know the solution for the problem ,why it's not picking up dynamically from dhcp server?please advise.
regards,
reddy

RANI007,
Pardon my simplistic question...but DID youconfigure DHCP?

Yes, it was configured and was working fine with win98 machines. i want to map my network printers with loginscript.would you be able to help regarding this.servername is:svrmr and the networkprinter which was installed on the server as networkprinter and the share name is:eek:ffice1, so i want every one of the network users should be able to access the printers and should find the printers in their printers menu, without manually adding to it. please advise.
thanks for your time.
