Hello guys,
Could you tell me what makes websites go down?

I would appreciate your reply

You mean temporarily, or permanently? There's thousands of reasons why a site would be down; from a cable cut on a carrier network somwhere, to the site owner not paying his bills on time.

Hi man,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm talking about the temporarily.
Ok my direct question is: is it possible for the CLIENT (normal users) to make some website temporarily down?

Best regards

They go ofline at times to service or upgrade their software or repairs, usualy at night.

yes it is. If you know what your doing you can attack a server with a DDOS attack (distrubuted disruption of service) attacks.

This will make a virus (style thing) and continuously ping a server from any infected machine.

DONT DO THIS THO!! This is the kind of thing that makes the internet poor. It is small minded people with sad lives that attack computers, becuase generally the person they want to effect are not the only one to suffer. i.e. If you take down a large business, other businesses might go down too.

The only reason i know this is becuase i know people who have to stop people doing stuff like this. ----------------------------------------

plus if you do this and your caught.... you will likely be sued
