What makes my patterns change when printing documents

I have Excel 2002 on a WIN98 machine. We update Client Access and since then my pattern on my documents don't print the same. The have vertical lines in them. Updated the printer driver and now the ones that printed funny print fine but the ones that printed fine before the printer driver now print funny.

any ideas
