what kind of printers for artwork?

Does anyone know the sort of laser printer, that you can specify how many dots printed per inch? its sort of like halftone in balck and white and you can see each dot on the page to make a gradient grey. i cant for the life of me think what kind of printer this is, its used for artwork when making toned grey.

can anytone help?

The printer your looking for might be expensive. Based on what program you are using to get the half tone, a Xerox Phaser 7750 might do the trick.
