From the memory stick label:

KR 0445
PC 3200U 30331 - A1
M386L 3223ETM -GGG
256 MB DDR PC3200 CL3

Is this DDR 333 or DDR 400?
Is it Unbuffered Non-ECC or Registered ECC
Who made It?

PC3200 = DDR 400

From what I can think of it looks to be an emachine-specific type of ram; is that the kind of computer you have?

Something like that is more than likely to be unbuffered; most Registered ECC RAM sticks are VERY new and for high-performance machines.

eMachines T3624, Just bot it couple days ago

I lookt for memory upgrades lots of sites including the eMachines site and they all cough up PC2700 DDR.

I about wore Google out. Learned a lot but not exactly what this is. Tried Email support on eMachnes site - it wouldn't function. Sure want the exact same thing for upgrading. I will try phoning them but that route doesn't fill me with high hopes for some odd reason.

I'm thinking since its brand new and only 256 MB they may well have put in the super duperest latest RAM.

I popped the hood again; corrected label

KR 0445
PC 3200U 30331 - A1
M386L 3223ETM -CCC
256 MB DDR PC3200 CL3

I have also been looking for proper memory upgrade for a t3624. I note that the cpu info states celeron 330, 2.66Ghz, 533 fsb. I thought it was recommended on my old computers not to get memory slower than the cpu. Since I don't understand the architecture here maybe fsb is not the most relevant stat. 3200 memory can be had for $19 for 256meg while for the pc4000 type $48 per 256 meg. Thanks for the fine print readings off the chip. J

Confusing! if you don't know how it works but PC3200 (DDR400) is actually faster than your Celeron D chip needs.

Celeron D 533fsb needs PC2100 (DDR266) or higher, this is because Intel's quad pump there memory so:

If ran syncronously, memory setting at 133 4x133=533 to match the 533fsb of the CPU.

Many motherboards will run the memory asyncronously even though there is little to be gained they are designed to do so and will run just fine.

So in brief, your CPU actually only needs PC2100 (DDR266) but has been fitted and will work just fine with faster PC3200 (DDR400)

thanks Martin!

Your details suggest the 256 meg stick of memory (-133mhz) I recently bought may see some game time - Was going to build a computer. Discovering the speed of this memory chip I thought it useless and antique in my new ballpark. Y not put it in the new computer and see if my "motherboard(s) will run the memory asyncronously even though there is little to be gained they are designed to do so and will run just fine" - an instance of asyncronous gain if ever I heard of one and a very cheap upgrade while the price of a 512 stick lowers! thanks again!

didn't fit - the slot on bottom was in different place - and now the $19 256 meg sticks also look unlikly to fit ~
