Supposedly it is used for the synchronicity of disparate mail systems? i.e, Notes to Exchange... is it even a Microsoft product or am I way off here?

Thanks for any guidance here and have a great day!

MIS could be interpreted as "Mobile Information Server", a short lived solution from the 2001 timeframe which was broken up and put into Exchange 2003 and LCS.

MIIS is a solution to share and synchronise DIRECTORY information between disparate environments.

There isn't any synchronicity between Exchange and anything else.

Thx MarkArnold,

MIIS was definately what I was looking for... the 2003 version does something sync-wise between Exchange 2003 and i.e -Lotus Notes?

Is this true?

Thanks again

No, it isn't true.
Exchange 2003 doesn't have a directory so you can't sync anything to it. It is the case that you can use MIIS to pull Notes information into AD. Mind you, it's a sledgehammer to crack a nut given that, for free, you can use the Notes connector stuff from the MS site to sync Notes and AD.

MIIS also has to be installed on Windows 2003 Enterprise, won't work on Standard which bumps up the cost even more.

And MIIS ain't cheap.

thanks guys,

as always I appreciate the information provided. truly a great forum and even greater technical people here

I might just use the MS connectors and steer away from MIIS..

thanks again
