what I am trying to describe looks the same as when you are watching satellite tv and a bunch of tiny squares come on the screen when the reception is poor.
Is there a proper term to describe this?
Thanks in advance.

I would say pixellated, but I'm just a user.
If the tiny squares are white, then it is more "white noise" than pixellation, I would think.

Pascal.

Yes it's pixellation; it appears when you play bad DVDs, too.
