What is the Passing Score and how difficult? 1

So what is the passing score you need on the CCNA exam?

And how "difficult" is the exam.

I am preparing to take the exam on Friday and just curious what everyone's impression is.

Any links to descriptions of the exam on within tek tips would be great.

The Passing score is now 850 (out of 1000) and could be described as "difficult". It's certainly a lot harder than it was 5 years ago because a lot of people were able to pass by memorising facts without a full understanding and hence the certification was being cheapened.

I took the exam again 2 weeks ago and passed with a 962 but i'm well on the way to a CCNP so the stuff was easier by comparison, I have also failed this exam (twice) last year before doing vast amounts of cisco stuff all year. So it's by no means a walkover.

Can you setup VLAN's and VTP? Can you setup OSPF? do you know all the show commands and know how to use a router for all your day to day tasks? You do have to know these things inside out, and know what other things can affect situations.

If not then you are going to fail. Read the book again.

A co-worker and I both just finished the 2part exam in the last 6 months or so. Both of us thought the Intro exam was rather difficult. I definitely could have used some extra material to help pass.

For the ICND I got some good extra help looking through some of the CCNP preperation. Now as I'm working on CCNP (BSCI specifically) I'm toying with getting some of the CCIE books to help with the routing protocols and such. Kind of a theory I remember from high school sports and the coaches commenting on you can become a better player by working out/playing with those at a level above yours.

Now, don't let any of this sound intimidating. Take some practice tests, run through the commands on a router, be familiar with the CLI, know subnetting, and you should do fine.
