Hello

I have Networker 7.2 and a VTL.
With the VTL i present to many Clients a LTO.

In the GUi it looks like this
rd=(Server):/dev/nst0(J)LTO Ultr (unmounted) ejected
and it works fine.

Now i present a client a second LTO.
I configure the LTO with jbedit.
And it works fine.
BUT in the GUI it looks diverent.
rd=(Server):/dev/nst1(J)LTO Ultr (unmounted) 1:ejected

What is the meaning of this 1: all other LTO's havent this?
How can i delet the 1:?

Thanks for your help
Stephan

Did you (accidentally) assign a "Hardware ID"?

If there is an entry in this field, NW thinks you may start at DDS device and assigns a sequence number. The first DDS instance will receive a "1".

Yes
In the Hardware ID i see the following
(Server) - Drive 33

Can i delete this ?

Stephan

How can i avoid this in the future?
what have i done wrong with the jbedit command?
Stephan

Yes you can delete this - you probably need to disable the device for that moment.

How to avoid that? - In general, just answer the questions for jbconfig/jbedit precisely.

If i delete the Hardware iD the i get the folowing message:
hardware ID cannot be changed on a jukebox device

What now?

I give the following answers in jbedit:

jbedit -a

Enter pathname of device to be added? rd=(Server):/dev/nst1
Is this device going to be shared? no
What is the data element address of this new drive? 33
Please choose a model number from among the above types? 33
Is this device to be configured as a NDMP device? no

That are all question where is my mistake?

Stephan

You are one of the rare guys who uses jbedit ;-)

I would actually try to
- remove the drive from the jukebox resource
- remove the hardware id
- re-add the drive to the jbox

Sorry, no idea how to do it with jbedit.
