What is the different between the NFuse and ALE (Application Launched and Embedded).

How can I install the NFuse on Metaframe server?

Thanks!

ALE is the way that the web client works;

You can either Launch an app from the web page, so that you can then use the browser for other things, or you can embed it into the web page - which will tie the application to the page.

NFuse is a server extension that provides access to a Citrix server farm via a web page. It's very easy to install - simply download it and run the program. You will also need a proxy server configured to access the internet.

Hope this helps

Thanks you for your prompt reply!

Why I need to install a proxy server when I install the NFuse?
If I have a firewall setup before the Citrix server and Nfuse installed, what services or ports which I need to allow in firewall?? Is it two ports which are TCP 1494 and UDP 1604??

What if my Citrix server & NFuse is an INTERNAL ip address and I did a NAT for it? Would it be work?? What I should do?

Thanks you!

This information is detailed in the NFuse admin guide, available for download from Citrix's website.

The web server uses the NFuse Java objects to generate an HTML page containing links to the applications in the user's application set. Each hyperlink in the HTML page points to a template file stored on the Web server.

Yes, those are the two ports MetaFrame requires - but you can change them if you need to. Using NAT, you need 1494 open inbound and outbound, 1604 open outbound and TCP ports 1023 and up open outbound.

Yes you can use NAT, but you would need to implement an alternative address for the Citrix server, using the ALTADDR utility. This is also documented.

Have a look at the document CTX306868 on Citrix's website.

Hope this helps

Thanks you very much!

Actually, my customer used the ALE and not the NFuse.

But I encounter some problem during implement the ALE. My application is install inside a firewall. So, I did NAT of the citrix application. When everything is done! Peaple at outside only can see the web page and able to ping and telnet the citrix server. but not able to connect to the application.

Finally, we solved the problem with refer to the knowledgebase on Citrix web site!

But I have a question, If the application I create on Published application manager(PAM). Next time I open the PAM. The application will lock and become read only! Why?

So, I create the application on Citrix Management Console!

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Cheers!
