Norstar voice mail, what is the difference between?
Voice Port
Channel
Access
Is it true that 1 port = 2 access
How does it work?
Thanks

Serge9

Each "port" or connection to the telephone system, has 2 channels or speech paths. Nortel confused the issue a few years ago and started call channels ports in order remain consistant with industry terminology. As an example the Flash 2 voice mail is called 2 port system but in reality it is 1 port (2 channels). So it depends on who you talk to. Rule of thumb one connection = two channels or as you call them accesses.

Thank you Telemarv
yes it is confusing, but with youe answer, it is clear that if on the voice system shows 16 channele it means it has 8 voice ports!
