What is the difference between SCP and CISSP?

Anyone out there know what is the difference between SCP (Security Certified Professional and CISSP (Certified Informations Systems Professinal (CISSP)?
Which one is better. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Based on the information from the SCP website, it looks like it addresses network security only. The CISSP certification, on the other hand, is a more comprehensive coverage of overall security issues and requires verification of sufficient past experience in one or more of the 10 knowledge areas just to qualify for the exam. In order to eliminate the "paper CISSP", effective June 2002, experience claimed on the exam application must be verified by a third party in a position to know your background and who can attest to that experience. The SCNP doesn't appear to require past experience, although the scenario test for the SCNA would imply that some experience is necessary to pass this exam. As to which one is better, it depends on your specific needs and interests. The SCNP/SCNA series appears to be targeted more towards the technician/administrator level, while the CISSP is geared more for Security Officers, IT Managers and CTO/CIO level personnel. As with all things certified, YMMV, so only you can make the call as to which path is the best choice for you.

Thank you very much for the insight Joe. I am an MCSE working on Securtiy for Win2k Active Directory. I am currently working on a CCNA (Passed) and CCDA certifications. I am thinking of taking the SCP certifications afterwards to enhance my current certs. I would like to specialize in Systems Security and maybe hopefull with enough experience get a CISSP Cert

If you are interested in furthering your Cisco certs, instead of going for the CCNP, you might look at the CCIP certification. There are two base exams, and then an elective track. All the elective tracks are one test, unless you take the Security elective, which includes the curriculum to earn the CSS1 (Cisco Security Specialist 1) Check these links out for more information:

You can do the Security elective first and earn the CSS1 after four exams. Of course that is a total 6 exams at $125/each, so it is quite an investment in time and money, even if you study it self-paced and have access to PIX boxes to practice on.

I am currently putting one of my admins through this track and am thinking about using his courseware to study for the Cisco Security cert.
