Im not a CME guy but I can tell you that the 40's, 42's and 61's are all going to have different firmware files. Judging from what you posted it looks like only the 61 load is there which is probably why you are sitting with the 40's and 42's. The 40's have been EOL for awhile so their last firmware is 8.1SR2 or something like that. The 42's I believe are at 9.3.1SR4. But you might be better off keeping them at 8.5 firmware like the 61's are. Hope this helps a little till someone with more CME experience chimes in.

I agree with gnr. Since your CME version is fairly old (and not supported), I would stay with an older version of firmware for the 7942s. Not sure how the latest load will behave with an older version of CME.
As far as how to load the firmware onto telephony service, here's a tutorial:

Thank You gnrlash4life, whykap
The firmware i should be looking for
should be something like cmterm-7940_7960-sccp.8-5-1.tar
I could not locate it, so I guess it is note the correct firmware name!

Thanks
Serge9

You will need to download the zip file and upload each one individually to your server as the older loads were not tar files if I recall correctly.
I was able to find the 7940-7960s all the way back to version 3. so its all there.
Once you log into cco this is the path:

Downloads Home ->

Products ->

Collaboration Endpoints ->

IP Phones ->

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 Series ->

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940G->

similar for the 7942.

Thanks Whykap, excellent detailed Road Map
i down loaded those files, i will do the same for 7940G
cmterm-7942_7962-sccp.8-5-2SR1.zip
cmterm-7942_7962-sccp.8-5-2SR1.cop.sgn
cmterm-7942_7962-sccp.8-5-2SR1.exe

what is the difference between cmterm-7942_7962-sccp.8-5-2SR1.cop.sgn and the cmterm-7942_7962-sccp.8-5-2SR1.zip
if i unzip it and take the unzipped files put on the FTTP server
and add in the telephony services load 7942 SCCP41.8-5-4S

so the telephony services will have
load 7940 sccp....
load 7942 sccp....
load 7961 sccp...
do i need to re creat CNF file?

am i missing something

Thanks

forget to ask
i have the following files (as listed in my first post)on my CME router
tftp-server usbflash1:Cisco/term41.default.loads alias term41.default.loads
ftp-server usbflash1:Cisco/SCCP41.8-5-4S.loads alias SCCP41.8-5-4S.loads
tftp-server usbflash1:Cisco/jar41sccp.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn alias jar41sccp.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn
tftp-server usbflash1:Cisco/dsp41.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn alias dsp41.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn
tftp-server usbflash1:Cisco/cvm41sccp.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn alias cvm41sccp.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn
tftp-server usbflash1:Cisco/cnu41.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn alias cnu41.8-5-4TH1-6.sbn

so that will allow me to add 7941 IP phones
all i need is to add in telephony services
load 7941 SCCP41.8-5-4S

and configure the iphone and DN?

THANKS
Serge9
