I have a Word document with fields that link to Excel cells? I want to:
1) Verify that the links are still intact when the user opens the Word document.
2) If the links are broken, pull up a windows dialog box and allow the user to select an Excel spreadsheet and do the refresh.
1) When you open a Word document that contains links, a dialog box appears that asks if you would like to update them. If you hit No, and decide later that you want to update them, hit ctrl-a to select all, then hit the F9 key.

2) Select Yes when asked if you would like to update the links and, if Word can't find the Excel file, it should automatically ask what file you want to link to.

To "reclaim" links, all you have to do is hit Edit-Links.

Make sure that "update automatic links at open" is selected under Tools-Options-General tab.

Hello,

If your users want to see what is linked to the Word Doc try this:

1. <Edit> select <Links>
2. They will then be able to <Change Source>, <Update>, etc

Hoe this helps
