What is ndetect and what is it for? 1

Can someone tel me what NDETECT is and what it is for? I think it is for networks.

The reason I ask is I have a new pentium 4 and am on a 256K wireless LAN and it runs like a 56K modem. It is slow most of the time. I have seen other systems the same as mine and the connections are instantaneous. Lickity split if you will.

Why is this running so slow? I'd like to tell this company some clues.

NDETECT is part of Norton AntiVirus. Do not confuse this with NTDETECT.COM which is an essential boot file for WinNT, 2000, and XP. As far as NDETECT, here is a link which goes about manually uninstalling if Add/Remove Programs does not work:

Thank you for your quick reply. I will leave it as is since it is for virus scanning. I will find out about the other later I guess.
