I keep getting stuck around the basic concepts of MTP and Transcoding including how they are used within the Media Resources for IPT.

Can someone explain to me in simple terms (even if it is by example) with what MTP and Transcoding is including
how it is used?

Thanks very much in advanced!

Transcoding is when you want to convert codecs from either G711 or G729. For instance if you had a WAN link you would want a media termination point and a transcoder to change G711 which is a large codec to G729 which is a smaller codec across your LAN. You will lose quality when changing from G711 to G729.
