Microsoft C++ 2005 needs to be either installed or re-installed.

Cheers,
Coorsman

I ran into this issue at a few of my stores. Try reinstalling MS c++2005 it may work for you. Sadly it did not work for me. In the end I downloaded the full install disk in ISO, and mounted it and installed it that way. I only needed disk one and not the generic aloha 6x disk.

It seems the update sees the issues with MSVCR80.dll and ends. I had to uninstall MS c++2005 and then do a full install which asks if you want to install MS c++. Obviously the answer would be YES.

BTW which version of 6.5 are you going to. I support a quick services environment and had lots of issues with anything lower then 6.5.22. I am currently on 6.5.23 and so far it has worked well.

I am running 6.5.16 and 6.5.17 but we use Table Service at our locations.

Update not working but the Full Install did

Thanks

Hi there,

I would check on your patching as well. I know that the latest and greatest Aloha update files not only require c++ 2005 to be installed but it is also looking for a patch to c++ 2005 that came out last year.

I also ran into this issue when updating Aloha to 6.4.

Here is what I usually do:

Downloads:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 : Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 : Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 ATL Security Update :
Download and install all three in the correct order (2005 then SP1 then the ATL patch). Please note that all three downloads have the same filename, so you may want to save them in different folders to avoid overwriting.

After installing all three in order, I usually also run Microsoft Update and look for Custom updates to see if there are any updates to the C++ runtimes. After doing all this, I reboot before running the Aloha upgrader.
