I am tryng to get a feeling for my backup and recovery and need some assistance. I am using Backup Exec.v8.6 with Exchange agent on a W2K server with Exchange 2K

First when I try to backup the M:\Exchange I receive alot of access denied errors in the log. I know that the MS Information Store and the MS Exhange Mailboxes are selected and no errors reported. If I remove this M drive from backup then all is well. I just need confirmation that it is not needed.

My other issue presented it that we have several task and a calendar created under Public Folder. I have yet to find a way to be able to backup or restore a single item if something goes wrong with it. I get the impression that if something goes wacky with say the calendar, that I will have to restore everything.

Any help is appreciated

Don't mess with the M: drive, Exchange creates that mapping. You don't need to backup M: it is a duplicate of you exc folders.

correct marcs41...it's a virtual directory for OWA..don't need to be backed up, I also believe you should disable any virus scanner programs on that m: drive!

Thanks guys.....any info relative to restore of a single "folder" in my Public Folder. We have several Task folders setup and also a calendar for our office. If for some reason I want to restore just the calendar or say our "Developement Task" folder can I do that? It appears that I would have to restore all folders in our Public Folder......

Thanks again......

Yep your right about restoring it all. That's the one gripe I have about BackupExec, its either all PF or NO PF! I don't know if any other backup programs have a way of getting around it or not.
